Chase: Cold Case Investigations is a Hotel Dusk Spiritual Successor

Chase: Cold Case Investigations is a Hotel Dusk Spiritual Successor

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 was a point-and-click adventure game for the Nintendo DS released in 2007. The developer, Cing, made a few other similar games, such as Another Code: Two Memories (released in North America as Trace Memory) and Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. Last Window was a sequel to Hotel Dusk. However, Cing filed for bankruptcy in 2010. Although Hotel Dusk fans may never get another game in the series, it now has a spiritual successor on the 3DS. Several former Cing employees, including Hotel Dusk director Taisuke Kanasaki, developed a new adventure game with Arc System Works called Chase: Cold Case Investigations – Distant Memories. From its style to its protagonist, th... »

Croagunk Arrives in Pokkén Tournament Arcade

The Poison/Fighting-Type Pokémon Croagunk is the latest addition to the Pokkén Tournament arcade game in Japan, and it was quite a surprise when the announcement came out last week. Previously, a leak came out saying that the new Pokémon coming to Pokkén Tournament were Scizor, Darkrai, and Empoleon, since people found game data for them. Darkrai’s arrival was announcement in July and Scizor’s was revealed in October, so most fans expected that the rumors were true and Empoleon would be next. Instead, it’s Croagunk. Does this mean Empoleon is still coming in the future? We can’t say, but let’s take a look at Croagunk’s reveal trailer to see how he plays. C... »

Personally, the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer left me with one specific hope: a new 3D Mario game in the style of Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy. Each console since the Nintendo 64 has had at least one 3D Mario game. The Wii U’s was Super Mario 3D World, but it has a very different style from that of the others. It follows the structure of the 2D games, rathe... »

Why You Should Play Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem

Why You Should Play Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem

If you can find a copy of Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem for the GameCube–admittedly not an easy task with how rare it is these days–you owe it to yourself to give it a try, especially if you enjoy Lovecraftian horror. Eternal Darkness is an oddity, a Nintendo-published survival horror game exclusive to the GameCube, and its high praise is well-deserved. Here are a few reasons why this 2002 horror game is still worth playing. Lovecraftian Horror at its Finest The horror stories of H.P. Lovecraft have inspired many video games, but their themes are the heart and soul of Eternal Darkness.
