The newest game in the Legend of Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, will be available sometime next year for the Nintendo Wii U and NX. Here are the top 5 reasons to be excited for it. 5. It’s a New Legend of Zelda Game This is the simplest reason, but a lot of fans will be excited for Breath of the Wild simply because it’s a new game in the series. It will be the first new console Zelda game since Skyward Sword in 2011. 4. New Gameplay Elements Breath of the Wild is a departure from the traditional Zelda format in many ways. While this could be cause for concern, it’s also reason for excitement as we look forward to fighting with a wide variety of weapo... »
The Nintendo 3DS has a lot of fantastic games, some well-known and others not-so-much. Let’s take a look at some of the great 3DS games people rarely talk about, the hidden gems on the Nintendo 3DS. 3. The Starship Damrey If you’ve ever heard someone mention the Guild series, it refers to a compilation of small 3DS games on the eShop made by various game designers and published by Level-5. Many of these could be considered hidden gems, such as Attack of the Friday Monsters!, but even when people discuss the Guild games, they often overlook The Starship Damrey. The Starship Damrey is a survival horror game. It has no combat and its puzzles are easy (with the exception of one optio... »
Mario Bros is a never ending classic full of memorable platforming and likeable characters. The first power-ups of all time to gain pop-culture status were conceived by Nintendo. Since the first Mario more than 20 years ago, there was a Super Mushroom, and it has become a symbol for Mario’s world. Nobody can imagine a Mario World without power-ups. In each new game, new powers appear. By now there is a pool of powers, and depending on your personal style to play, some might be more useful than others. At times, some power-ups are not desirable, like the Mini Mushroom that makes you small to be able to get into a tiny space, but also makes all your enemies bigger, which will make it easier fo... »
The Mario vs. Donkey Kong series has changed a lot over the years, and one of the biggest changes in Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move is right in the title. You won’t be fighting Donkey Kong. Instead, you’ll guide mini versions of Mario, Donkey Kong, Peach, Toad, or Pauline through a series of puzzles. There are four main modes, but the basic gameplay remains the same in each. Your Minis move on their own, and you must lay down paths for them to follow to the door. In Mario’s Main Event, random tiles are dispensed for you to use to create your path. Puzzle Palace gives you a set number of tiles instead, while Many Mini Mayhem fills the board with tiles you must arra... »
Few games have caused such immediate backlash as Metroid Prime: Federation Force, a cooperative first-person shooter set in the Metroid universe and starring Galactic Federation Marines. It wasn’t necessarily that Federation Force itself looked terrible, but rather that it didn’t look like Metroid and the state of the series didn’t put fans in a good mood to receive a spin-off as the next Metroid title. The last Metroid game came out in 2010, and it wasn’t well-received. Fans waited a long time for Nintendo to announce a new game, and it was an even longer wait for fans hoping for a new 2D Metroid. Instead of a new main-series Metroid game in either 2D or 3D, Nintend... »
Ace Attorney is fantastic, a visual novel/adventure game series with excellent stories, memorable characters, and some of the best humor in the industry. It currently consists of five main-series games, three spin-offs, one crossover with the Professor Layton series, and a sixth main-series game due out this September. While every Ace Attorney game is worth playing, and the series is best experienced in release order, let’s take a look at the three best Ace Attorney games. 3. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is where it all began, and it’s still one of the greatest. While it lacks the clear overarching plot later games would have, the first Ace Attorney g... »
