Tell Tantalus the Games You Want on the Switch

The CEO of Tantalus Media, the company that co-developed The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD to bring it to the Wii U, recently announced in an interview that they’re working on titles for the Nintendo Switch. (That’s right, titles, plural.) You can head to our forum discussion of this news to speculate on what games those might be. That’s not the only thing of interest CEO Tom Crago said in the interview, though. In addition to his excitement about the Switch and that Tantalus has been working on unannounced Switch games for a while, he also mentioned that fans will probably look at Nintendo’s old titles and think about the games they’d love to see brough... »

If you had a Nintendo 3DS prior to October 31, 2013, you probably remember Swapnote: an app that let you send messages and pictures to your 3DS friends through SpotPass. Unfortunately, some users abused the feature, and Nintendo deactivated its online functionality. Swapnote was a nice feature, and its deactivation disappointed many players. Now, however, Nintendo announced the new and improved Swapdoodle. Swapdoodle   Swapdoodle is a lot like Swapnote. You can use it to write messages and draw pictures in 3D, and then send them to your friends via SpotPass. Even Nikki, the Mii character who ran Swapnote, has returned! Has Excitement Dwindled for the Nintendo SWITCH?

Has Excitement Dwindled for the Nintendo SWITCH?

Do you think excitement has dwindled for the launch of the Nintendo SWITCH after rumors came out about Zelda: Breath of the Wild not launching with the system? In my opinion, it doesn’t change a thing. I am still very excited about the system, its features and capabilities, and it’s potential software library that I will be getting one at launch. The latest rumors have stated Breath of the Wild may not launch with the system.. or even within the launch window (first 3 months). While this may disappoint some, I think it’s important to understand why. Breath of the Wild is Nintendo’s BIGGEST game EVER. Localizing has been rumored to be taking longer then expected and wh... »

Chase: Cold Case Investigations is a Hotel Dusk Spiritual Successor

Chase: Cold Case Investigations is a Hotel Dusk Spiritual Successor

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 was a point-and-click adventure game for the Nintendo DS released in 2007. The developer, Cing, made a few other similar games, such as Another Code: Two Memories (released in North America as Trace Memory) and Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. Last Window was a sequel to Hotel Dusk. However, Cing filed for bankruptcy in 2010. Although Hotel Dusk fans may never get another game in the series, it now has a spiritual successor on the 3DS. Several former Cing employees, including Hotel Dusk director Taisuke Kanasaki, developed a new adventure game with Arc System Works called Chase: Cold Case Investigations – Distant Memories. From its style to its protagonist, th... »

Croagunk Arrives in Pokkén Tournament Arcade

Croagunk Arrives in Pokkén Tournament Arcade

The Poison/Fighting-Type Pokémon Croagunk is the latest addition to the Pokkén Tournament arcade game in Japan, and it was quite a surprise when the announcement came out last week. Previously, a leak came out saying that the new Pokémon coming to Pokkén Tournament were Scizor, Darkrai, and Empoleon, since people found game data for them. Darkrai’s arrival was announcement in July and Scizor’s was revealed in October, so most fans expected that the rumors were true and Empoleon would be next. Instead, it’s Croagunk. Does this mean Empoleon is still coming in the future? We can’t say, but let’s take a look at Croagunk’s reveal trailer to see how he plays. C... »

Most-Wanted Nintendo Switch Games

Most-Wanted Nintendo Switch Games

The Nintendo Switch has been announced, and while we still know only a little about it, it’s enough for us to discuss our hopes. Of course, everyone hopes the Switch will be a success and avoid the pitfalls that hurt the Wii U, but the list of third-party partners also opens up speculation about possible Switch games. Personally, the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer left me with one specific hope: a new 3D Mario game in the style of Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy. Each console since the Nintendo 64 has had at least one 3D Mario game. The Wii U’s was Super Mario 3D World, but it has a very different style from that of the others. It follows the structure of the 2D games, rathe... »

Why You Should Play Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem

Why You Should Play Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem

If you can find a copy of Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem for the GameCube–admittedly not an easy task with how rare it is these days–you owe it to yourself to give it a try, especially if you enjoy Lovecraftian horror. Eternal Darkness is an oddity, a Nintendo-published survival horror game exclusive to the GameCube, and its high praise is well-deserved. Here are a few reasons why this 2002 horror game is still worth playing. Lovecraftian Horror at its Finest The horror stories of H.P. Lovecraft have inspired many video games, but their themes are the heart and soul of Eternal Darkness. It stars a young woman named Alexandra Roivas as she investigates the mysterious dea... »
