5 Switch eShop Games We’d Love to See Released Physically
Digital games are fine, but sometimes there’s just something nice about having a physical copy of a game. For those of you who prefer Switch cartridges to digital downloads, here are 5 eShop games we’d love to see get a physical release.
With 2D gameplay that calls back to traditional Sonic games, Sonic Mania is one of the most well-received Sonic the Hedgehog games in years. Therefore, it’s a bit disappointing that this game is only available in digital form, with even the physical collector’s edition including a code to download the game rather than a physical copy. Rumors of a physical release have been circulating for over a month now, so maybe we’ll see this soon enough.
Battle Chef Brigade
Last month’s cooking-themed action and puzzle game was so charming and full of life, we’d love to see a physical release of Battle Chef Brigade. When asked by fans, the developers expressed their interest in the same thing, so here’s hoping they find a way to make it happen. Since they might add more playable characters and other content in the future, it would be perfect to put the final definitive version on a cartridge.
It took a while for Yooka-Laylee to make it to the Switch, but at long last, this 3D platformer will reach Nintendo on December 14. So far, only an eShop release has been confirmed, but since physical copies were released for other consoles, we’re hopeful that the Switch version will eventually receive the same treatment. The developer has said it’s still a possibility, although the digital release was their priority.
Hollow Knight came out for the PC earlier this year, and a Switch release is planned for early 2018. This Metroidvania-style game received exceptional reviews and is one of the most-anticipated indie games for the Switch, making it a top choice for a game we’d like to see get the physical treatment. Fortunately, this one seems quite likely. While an eShop release is the only thing confirmed so far, the developers said over the summer that chances of a physical Switch release were “quite promising.”
Finally, one game we’d really love to see a physical copy of is Golf Story. A story-driven golf game sounded bizarre when it was first announced, but Golf Story won fans’ hearts with its charm and humor. With its surprise success, what better game to receive a physical release? And when Limited Run Games discussed their plans to release limited physical copies of Switch games, they hinted that it might be a game about golf. Perhaps we’ll hear something soon!
Sonic Mania, Battle Chef Brigade, Yooka-Laylee, Hollow Knight, and Golf Story are five games on the Nintendo Switch eShop that we’d love to see released physically? What about you? Are there Switch games you want physical releases of, and if so, what are they? Let us know in the comments.
