It was another exciting week for Nintendo fans, starting off strong with the release of Sonic Forces and a Nintendo Direct focused on Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Let’s take a look.

My Nintendo News

In honor of Sonic Forces coming out for the Switch, several Sonic the Hedgehog rewards have been added to My Nintendo:

Nintendo Switch News

On November 7 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET Nintendo held a special Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Direct. If you didn’t catch it live, check it out now.

Along with a new trailer introducing several key characters, this Nintendo Direct also revealed that the Japanese audio will be available to download for free starting on launch day, a Rex costume is being added to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on November 9, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will have a $29.99 expansion pass that includes:

  • Support Items (December 2017)
  • New Quests (January 2018)
  • New Rare Blade (Spring 2018)
  • Battle Mode (Summer 2018)
  • Brand-New Story and Adventure (Fall 2018)

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be out on December 1.

Next, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle will be published in North America by Arc System Works America, the newly-established North American branch of Arc System Works.

New gameplay footage is now available for Atelier Lydie & Suelle, demonstrating the game’s field exploration. Check it out!

Interested in Penguin Wars for the Switch? It will be localized in early 2018! It will be available through the eShop, as well as a “Limited Launch Edition” that includes a physical copy of the game and a digital download code for the soundtrack. Croixleur Sigma, a hack-and-slash action game about fighting monsters as part of a special trial, is also coming to the Switch, although no release date has been announced yet.

And that’s not the only new game on its way to the Switch. The music-themed side-scroller Wandersong will be arriving on the Switch alongside its other platforms in early 2018. Check out the Switch announcement trailer!

Is fighting Titans more your style? For Koei Tecmo’s Attack on Titan 2, due out in March, five new playable characters have been revealed: Oruo Bozad, Petra Rall, Gunther Shultz, Eld Gin, and Moblit.

And the cooking action game Battle Chef Brigade now has a release date. It will be out on November 20. Don’t forget to take a look at our interview to learn more about Battle Chef Brigade.

A new trailer is also out for Gear.Club Unlimited, which will be out for the Switch one day later on November 21. If you’re interested in racing games, take a look and this gameplay footage in tabletop mode.

There is also a new trailer available for L.A. Noire on the Switch. The Switch version of L.A. Noire will have contextual touch-screen controls, optional gyroscopic controls, HD Rumble, and new camera angles. It will be out next week, on November 14.

Moving on, Yono and the Celestial Elephants has been updated. Version 1.01 has added support for the Pro Controller.

Speaking of updates, if you’re a Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 player interested in the Hero Colosseum coming to the game as a free update later this fall, a new video from Bandai Namco shows the Hero Colosseum in action.

Meanwhile, while Bandai Namco has not given specifics, they announced that they are working on three big Switch-exclusive titles planned for spring 2018 – summer 2018. What could they be? And they’re not the only ones! Square Enix has also announced that it plans to develop more games for the Switch and will not rule out any IPs, and Capcom revealed that Ace Attorney will be coming to the Switch in fiscal year 2018.

Nintendo Switch and 3DS News

On November 16, Fire Emblem Warriors will be updated to Version 1.2, adding the “Hero Contest” History Map, a new weapon attribute called “Armor Piercer Blow,” visible equipment damage for Rowan and Lianna when they’re in armor break state, a “Gold Prince” and “Gold Princess” costume for Rowan and Lianna respectively, new blessings, bulk sale of weapons, and other fixes. So far, this update has only been announced for Japan.

Nintendo 3DS News

We recently announced an unusual crossover event in Attack on Titan 2: Future Coordinates (not to be confused with the Switch game mentioned earlier) that will put players up against Monokuma from the Danganronpa series. In fact, this special mission will include multiple Titan Monokumas, and clearing the mission will reward you with a Monokuma costume for your character.

And if you’re looking forward to the 3DS release of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, check out these new musical trailers featuring Apollo and Klavier.

The “New Neighbors Pack” is now available for Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. As announced earlier, it costs $7.99 and there is also a separate 3DS theme available for $1.99. There is also a free update that adds four new outfits and fixes bugs.  The New Neighbors Pack DLC adds new romance options and dialogue, new friendship events, and more. Check out the new trailer for an overview of the DLC content.

Finally, with Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon almost here (November 17), The Pokémon Company has revealed a new exclusive Z-move for Mimikyu. Called “Let’s Snuggle Forever!” it will be available when a Mimikyu knows the move “Play Rough” and is holding the new Mimikium Z. Take a look!
