Following the exciting release of Super Mario Odyssey last week, this week also brought plenty of Nintendo news.
Nintendo Switch News
The Nintendo Switch is off to an excellent start, and Nintendo has reported total console sales of 7.63 million units, with 27.48 million software sales. Nintendo estimates 14 million Switch unit sales by March 2018, which would beat the Wii U’s total sales. Meanwhile, Super Mario Odyssey sold 2 million copies within its first three days.
Excited for another big game? There will be a Nintendo Direct devoted to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Tuesday, November 7 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET.

Next, the shoot-em-up Rive is coming to the Switch as Rive: Ultimate Edition. This definitive version of the shooter will include an exclusive local co-op mode using the two Joy-Con controllers, HD Rumble support, new in-game achievements, and better performance. It will be available on November 17. Check out the announcement trailer.
Now, if you enjoyed Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, the cult classic that came out for the Switch in April, you’ll be pleased to know that Nicalis has announced that it will be publishing a retail version.

Nicalis also announced that Ittle Dew 2+ will be out for the Switch on November 14. The first run of physical copies will include a full-color instruction booklet and a tear-resistant limited edition map alongside the game. Ittle Dew 2+ is a puzzle-solving action adventure game.

Another indie game also got a Switch release date this week. The cute action RPG Cat Quest will be out on November 10. Check out the announcement trailer for a better idea of the things you’ll be able to do in Cat Quest.
It was also announced that Owlboy will be out on February 13. A physical copy has been mentioned, but we don’t know if there will be physical Switch copies released or not.
Moving on, three new characters have been revealed for Atelier Lydie & Suelle, the Melveille castle receptionist and princess Mireille, the main characters’ deceased mother Onett, and the Venue Church nun Sister Grace. They also discussed the importance of using battle recipes to make items in combat, Combination Arts used by specific combinations of teammates, and forging and customizing equipment. You can also check out the opening movie.

Excited for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night? The latest development update on Kickstarter includes a new video of gameplay footage that shows the courtyard area as well as a battle against the samurai character Zangetsu. Check it out!
Looking ahead to upcoming sales, if you haven’t picked up The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild yet, Nintendo has a special deal ready for you on Black Friday (November 24). The new Explorer’s Edition includes a 100-page explorer’s guide and a two-sided map along with the Switch version of the game. It will cost $59.99. And if you’ve been enjoying Voez on your Switch, stay tuned for the Version 1.3 update on November 9, which will add 14 new songs to the game.
Nintendo Switch and 3DS News
A new indie game has been announced, and it’s planned for both the Switch and the 3DS. Super Mighty Power Man is a 2D platformer inspired by series like Mega Man (among others). The developer, Box Hedge Games, is planning a Kickstarter campaign.
Nintendo Wii U News
Wii U sales have reached 13.56 million units, with 100.85 million software sales.
Nintendo 3DS News
Still going strong, the Nintendo 3DS has reached 68.98 million units sold, with 343.07 million software sales.
Excited for the turn-based RPG The Alliance Alive? Atlus has announced that the Launch Edition released in the Americas will include a 20-track soundtrack CD, a 30+ page art book, and a Robbins penguin key chain. Be sure to also check out the new trailer, which introduces Azura, Galil, and Renzo.
Next, if you’ve been enjoying Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, you have even more content to look forward to on November 9. First, there will be a free Version 1.1 update that makes adjustments and adds four new outfits. Second, the “New Neighbors Pack” DLC will become available for $7.99. It includes new story content, dialogue, friendship events, winter events, and two new characters to romance. A new 3DS theme will also be available for $1.99.
Meanwhile, in a small piece of Attack on Titan 2: Future Coordinates news, it seems that Monokuma from the Danganronpa series will appear in a mission as a Titan.
Moving on to one of the 3DS’s biggest franchises, out the newest trailer for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon, which gives a brief overview of some of the new features. These two games will be out on November 17.
But that’s not all! Following that trailer, The Pokémon Company came out with even more exciting news about Ultra Sun and Moon. All of the Legendary Pokémon will be available (although some are version exclusives and other only appear if you have certain Pokémon in your party). Ho-Oh, Raikou, Groudon, Latios, Dialga, Heatran, Reshiram, Tornadus, and Xerneas are exclusive to Ultra Sun, while Lugia, Entei, Kyogre, Latias, Palkia, Regigigas, Zekrom, Thundurus, and Yveltal are exclusive to Ultra Moon. Suicune, Rayquaza, Giratina, Kyurem, and Landorus will only appear if you have both Pokémon from the respective trio. And these aren’t the only familiar faces you’ll see…
Giovanni of Team Rocket has gathered all the leaders of the previous villainous teams, and together they’ve formed Team Rainbow Rocket! You’ll face off against all of these old Pokémon villains in a new storyline.
They also announced the Battle Agency, which lets you rent powerful Pokémon for special battles. The Pokémon available to rent increase when you interact with other players. Ultra Sun and Moon also include collectible Totem Stickers in the world that let you put a totem-like Pokémon on your team. The Rotom Dex also has a QR scanner now that will let you gather Pokémon data and eventually find rare Pokémon.
Now, if fashion games are more your style, Style Savvy: Styling Star will be out in North America on December 25, following its November 2 release in Japan and November 24 release in Europe (under different titles). A free demo is available now.
Finally, if you don’t have a 3DS yet and are interested in the 2DS, Nintendo has you covered on Black Friday (November 24). They will be selling a green Nintendo 2DS system with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D pre-installed. It will cost $79.99. Note, this appears to be the original 2DS model, not the New 2DS.
