August 13 – August 19: This Week in Nintendo News

This was a quieter week for Nintendo news, but still with some good announcements and information. Let’s take a look.

Nintendo Switch News

If you’re keeping track of the upcoming Switch releases, you can add three more games to your list. Re:Legend, the monster-raising RPG planned for next June, met its Kickstarter goal for a Nintendo Switch release. Don’t forget to check out our interview with the developers.

In addition to Re:Legend, the open exploration game Pan-Pan will be available from the eShop on September 14, and the beat ’em up game 99Vidas will be coming to the Switch later this year, in Q3 or Q4 2017.

Following the announcement of Atelier Lydie & Soeur: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting last week, Gust released the first details about the game. It will follow two sisters who explore worlds found inside paintings, where they can find materials that aren’t in the real world. It also features a dynamic combat system where characters at the back of the formation support characters in the front, and you can synthesize materials in battle.

Finally, there is a new character trailer for Nine Parchments, a new Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle trailer focusing on Rabbid Luigi, and a new video about Harvest Moon: Light of Hope about rebuilding the town. (Remember, this is part of Natsume’s series, not the series previously known as Harvest Moon.)

Nintendo 3DS News

Let’s move on with one more character trailer that counts as both Switch and 3DS news. Take a look at Robin (Female) in Fire Emblem Warriors.

A new class trailer was also released for Etrian Odyssey V.

It was a slow week for 3DS news, but Professor Layton fans will be pleased to know that Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy will be out for the 3DS on October 6!

Finally, we got our first look at story details for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, along with the official cover art and a new trailer. It sounds increasingly as though these games will will upgrades to the original Sun and Moon, with a new story featuring Necrozma.
