Where Will The Legend of Zelda Go From Here?
It’s no secret that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a huge success. It received high praise from players and critics alike, and many fans consider it to be one of the best games released so far in 2017.
With its vast open world and beautiful landscapes, Breath of the Wild set a new standard for the series, and Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has already said future games will probably follow this style. With that in mind, we can probably expect a new game in the style of Breath of the Wild, but what else?
Breath of the Wild might be beloved, but it also changed many traditional gameplay features. Does this mean fans of the traditional Legend of Zelda style are out of luck? Not necessarily.
The Legend of Zelda series rarely goes silent in between major console entries. In between Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild, for example, A Link Between Worlds and Tri Force Heroes both came out for the 3DS. Before that, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks filled the gap.
In other words, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a handful of smaller Legend of Zelda titles released before the next sprawling epic–perhaps even one with a traditional gameplay style so all fans can be satisfied with the series’ direction.
The Legend of Zelda’s future looks bright, and we hope to see more games from the series both like Breath of the Wild and like the older games. Where do you hope The Legend of Zelda will go from here?
