Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Super Mario Odyssey, and Other 2017 Switch Games
Nintendo kicked off E3 2017 with a Nintendo Spotlight digital event that showed off several Nintendo Switch games coming in 2017 and 2018. So, what are some exciting Switch games you’ll be able to play this year?
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Yes, the new Xenoblade game is still on track for 2017. Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which features a search for a mysterious land known as Elysium, will be out this holiday season.
Its connection to the original Xenoblade Chronicles is still unclear, but the trailer shows us beautiful environments and Xenoblade’s usual style of action-based combat.
Fire Emblem Warriors
Nintendo also released a new trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors, which will be out for both the Switch and the New 3DS this fall. The new trailer introduces the story and shows some of the Fire Emblem characters you’ll be able to play as in this action (musou) game.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass
Two DLC packs are on their way to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Switch and Wii U, with the first pack due out on June 30. This new trailer should give you a better idea of what to expect.
The second DLC pack, which features the four champions (Urbosa, Mipha, Daruk, and Revali), will come out this holiday season. New amiibo figures of those four characters are also planned.
The popular indie game Rocket League is also on its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2017. It will include exclusive customization and items, as well as cross-platform play. It is planned for this holiday season.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
The tactical RPG crossover between Mario and Rabbids, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, will be available on August 29 for the Switch. While many fans were skeptical about it when it was leaked, the gameplay looks solid.
Super Mario Odyssey
Finally, Super Mario Odyssey is coming out in 2017, and sooner than many fans expected. Mario’s new 3D platforming adventure will be out for the Switch on October 27.
Mario will use his new ship, the Odyssey, to travel between worlds on a mission to save Princess Peach. In addition to the moves we saw previously, Mario also has a new ability that lets him use his hat to “capture” objects and enemies to take control of them.
Three new amiibo figures, featuring Mario, Peach, and Bowser in wedding outfits, will be released alongside Super Mario Odyssey. Other amiibo will also be compatible with it.
This is a solid lineup of games for 2017, and Super Mario Odyssey looks especially impressive. Which of this year’s Nintendo games are you looking forward to the most?
