Dragon Quest XI Has a Release Date; No Word on the Switch Version

Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time is the next mainline entry in the popular JRPG series. It’s notable for having at least two distinct versions, one for the PlayStation 4 and one for the Nintendo 3DS, or three, if you count the two visual styles available in the 3DS version.

Both versions will be available on July 29 in Japan. Early purchases will include bonus in-game equipment to increase your experience and gold, and a special edition including both the PS4 and 3DS versions will be available as well. There is still no localization news, but due to the success of recent Dragon Quest games in the West, it doesn’t seem unlikely.

Unfortunately, Square Enix has yet to reveal details about the Nintendo Switch version. When asked, Square Enix’s public relations said, “Support is planned, but there is nothing to announce today. We cannot say today whether the release date is the same as or different than the PlayStation 4 and 3DS versions.” (Thanks Gematsu for the translation.)

At least we know the Switch version exists, but we’ll need to wait longer to learn anything about it.
