Seiken Densetsu Collection Dev: If You Want an English Version, Tell Square Enix
The first three games in the Seiken Densetsu series, also known as the Mana series, are coming to the Nintendo Switch on June 1 in Japan as the Seiken Densetsu Collection. When we discussed the announcement, we pointed out that Seiken Densetsu 3 (sometimes referred to as Secret of Mana 2) has never been released in English.
After all this time, there might be hope for an official translation. The Seiken Densetsu Collection is being brought to the Nintendo Switch by M2, a developer that frequently handles the re-releases of older games. Fans have asked the president of M2, Naoki Horii, if an English release is possible. He gave an encouraging response:
“Eng ver. of Seiken Densetsu 3: If a translation exists, Square Enix would have it, not us. If not, I don’t think it’s impossible to make one, but we haven’t looked into it. If you really want an Eng ver, I think the best chance would be to show Square Enix your enthusiasm.”
Square Enix hasn’t said anything about translating Seiken Densetsu 3 and releasing the collection outside of Japan, but that doesn’t mean they won’t change their mind if they see enough fan interest. Last year, Square Enix localized the Vita version of Adventures of Mana after they received numerous requests for it. Square Enix also cited fan requests as the reason they localized Dragon Quest VII for the 3DS.
Are you interested in an English version of Seiken Densetsu 3, popularly known as Secret of Mana 2? If so, let us know… but more importantly, tell Square Enix!
