Game Freak is Hiring for a Console RPG – Could It Be Pokémon?

Game Freak, the developer of Pokémon, is currently hiring for two positions for a new console RPG. One position is for a 3D CG designer and the other is looking for character modelers.

Thanks to a translation from Siliconera, we know a few details about these jobs. They’re both contract positions not expected to last beyond May 2018, and they want people experienced with creating character models at the level you’d see in Wii U or PS Vita games. It is for a console game.

Everyone thinks “Pokémon” when they see Game Freak’s name, and while it is their most popular series, they’ve made other games as well, such as the recent Pocket Card Jockey. However, there’s good reason to believe these ads are connected to a new console Pokémon game. The first ad says the RPG is “popular on a global scale” and “a title that just about anyone knows.”

In other words, either Game Freak secretly got the rights to make a game in another popular RPG series, or they’re hiring people for a new Pokémon game.

Could this be the rumored “Pokémon Stars” sources have whispered about, a third game in the Sun and Moon generation made for the Nintendo Switch? Or could it be a new Pokémon RPG along the lines of Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, which we named one of the best Pokémon spin-offs?

Whatever it is, we can’t wait until Game Freak announces it. What do you think Game Freak’s new console RPG will be?

  1. maybe we will learn something at e3? 🙂

  2. Pokemon Stars.. or something else 😛

    • I wouldn’t mind a new separate RPG along the lines of Colosseum and Gale of Darkness.
