Bomberman ’94 and Gradius Now Available on the Wii U Virtual Console
Even though we’re approaching the end of the Wii U’s life cycle with the Nintendo Switch on the horizon, Nintendo is still adding games to the Wii U Virtual Console. The latest additions are Bomberman ’94 and Gradius.
Sometimes known as Mega Bomberman, Bomberman ’94 is a maze-based game that has appeared on a wide range of systems, including the Wii Virtual Console. It was added to the Wii U Virtual Console in Japan all the way back in November 2014, and now it’s finally available in other regions as well. Bomberman ’94 on the Wii U Virtual Console costs $6.99.
The very first scrolling shoot ’em up in the Gradius series first hit arcades in 1985 and was later brought to a variety of other systems, and now it’s available from the Wii U Virtual Console.
If you’re scratching your head in confusion, since the Virtual Console now lists two games called simply “Gradius,” the previous one made available is the NES port. This new one is the PC Engine (also known as the TurboGrafx-16) version and is considered the superior of the two. This version of Gradius on the Wii U Virtual Console costs $6.99.
Will you be picking up Bomberman ’94 or Gradius? What other games do you hope to see added to the Wii U Virtual Console?
