Upcoming Amiibo to Anticipate

Amiibo figurines were Nintendo’s answer to the toys-to-life market, and while their in-game usefulness varies from title to title, they’ve proved quite popular with collectors. Nintendo has already confirmed that the Nintendo Switch will support amiibo, so what does the future of amiibo look like?

Nintendo has released numerous amiibo figurines already, and has begun to restock some of the rare amiibo. At the same time, there are many to look forward to. A series of new Legend of Zelda amiibo figurines are due out on December 2: Link from the original Legend of Zelda, Link from Ocarina of Time, Link from Wind Waker, and Zelda from Wind Waker. These amiibo will function the same as their counterparts release for Super Smash Bros.

Speaking of which, three upcoming amiibo figurines for use in the Super Smash Bros. games have yet to receive release dates: Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta. They are widely expected to become available before the end of the year.

Three special amiibo made for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are expected out next year, most likely to coincide with the release of the game. These amiibo are Link (Archer), Link (Rider), and a Guardian. The previously-mentioned Legend of Zelda amiibo due out in December will also be compatible with the game (as will Wolf Link),

Finally, the new Poochy amiibo for Yoshi’s Woolly World will be out in February 2017.

Amiibo cards also exist, but although some fans might have worried the figurines would be phased out in favor of cards, so far only Animal Crossing amiibo cards have been made. The newest pack will become available on December 2.

With numerous amiibo figurines and cards on their way, more being announced even recently, and Nintendo confirming the Nintendo Switch has amiibo support, it looks as though amiibo are here to stay. We have several to look forward to already, but what other amiibo are you still hoping to see announced?
