A Legend of Zelda Escape Room is Coming to 8 Cities

Real-life “escape rooms” are becoming more and more popular: events where participants must solve puzzles in order to escape a room, a real-life take on similar video game scenarios. In fact, some of these are directly based on video games. Earlier this year, there was a Real Escape Game based on the Zero Escape games, and now it’s time for The Legend of Zelda to take a turn.

Defenders of the Triforce is a Zelda-themed escape room that will begin in San Francisco on January 31 and then move on to Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Phoenix, Houston, Chicago, and New York. Participants will be divided into groups of 6 people each, and together each team will need to find items and solve puzzles.

This is not a traditional escape room, but instead a story-based escape event. Multiple teams will be in the same area. Check out the official announcement video.

If you don’t already have a team of 6, the staff will help you form one with other players. Your team will have a table where you can work out puzzles, but you’ll also need to explore the game area. Afterwards, you’ll be able to visit “a Zelda-themed area with video trailers and special merchandise for sale.”

Visit the official website for everything you need to know about Defenders of the Triforce. The following dates have been announced so far:

  • San Francisco: January 31 – February 5
  • Los Angeles: February 10 – February 12
  • Phoenix: February 15 – February 17
  • San Diego: February 24 – February 25

Dates for the other cities have yet to be revealed, but should be announced on January 3, at which point you’ll be able to buy tickets for those events. If you want to participate, you need to act fast. The initial batch of San Francisco tickets sold out quickly, the second batch appears to be sold out already as well, and tickets for the other cities are going fast. When tickets become available for the remaining cities, it is likely they’ll sell quickly as well.
